contactor numbering, thermal relay, timer normally open and close contacts

Switch gears and their contact numbering We shall be looking at the various Switch gears and the numbering of their contacts. Switch gears such as contactors, timers and relay. As an engineer you have to know all the contacts of these switch gears which will permit you to carry out installations easily. These switch gears here include: Contactors Thermal relays Timers. etc. Here are the various switch gears and their contacts number. Normally open contacts (NO) 1) Contactor Contactor -  13 & 14 Contactor  - 33 & 34 Contactor -  63 & 64 Contactor's main contact which are normally open are numbered 1-2 or L1-T1 respectively 3-4 or L2-T2 5-6 or L3-T3 2) Thermal relay (Overload)  -  97 & 98 3) Timer   -  15 & 18 Normally closed contacts ( NC ) 1) contactor Contactor  -  21 & 22 Contactors  -  31 & 32 Contactors  -  61 & 62 2) Thermal relay (Ove...

Why transformers are rated in KVA

Reasons why transformers are rated in KVA Transformer It is important to know what is a transformer. A transformer is a static device which converts electrical energy from one voltage level to another at the same frequency. Transformers are rated in KVA not in KVAR nor in KW because of the following reasons: KVA=Kilo Volt X Ampere meanwhile KW=Kilo Volt X Ampere X Power factor since   transformers are rated based on the maximum amount of power they can transfer, we see that the apparent power in transformers ( total power= active power+reactive power) is independent of the power factor.  A transformer is not a load but only transfers energy from the primary to the secondary at same power and the iron loss and cu loss in transformers are independent of the power factor. The power factor is only associated with loads which may be: Inductive- lagging pf Capacitive-leading pf Resistive (unity power factor) Examples are motors 🔙HOME

Simulation and analysis of RC circuit in MATLAB

MATLAB SIMULATION OF SERIES RC CIRCUIT This will be divided into: Practical analysis Theoretical analysis Conclusion Circuit diagram of RC circuit Using the RC branch, with R = 1Ω and C=1000uF MATLAB SIMULATION WAVE FORMS Scope 2 Input voltage Current flowing in the circuit Voltage drop across the capacitor   Observing the wave form from scope2, we can see that the wave form of the current leads the wave form of the voltage by 90 0 . This is in line with the fact that  in pure capacitive circuit the current leads the voltage by an angle of 90 o and in a non-pure capacitive circuit by an angle < 90 0 . Scope 3 Voltage drop across the capacitor Voltage drop across the resistor   From scope3, we observe that the voltage across the capacitor (V C ) , is out of phase with the voltage across the resistor (V R ) by 90 0 . Where V C lags V R with V R and I in phase. THEORITICAL ANALYSI S Using the RC branch,...

Generation of Electricity from Biomass - Electrical energy from Biomass, combustion, gassification

GENERATION OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY FROM BIOMASS 1.1. INTRODUCTION Energy is the most vital issue for all living-being on earth. Modern life style has further increased its importance since a faster life means a faster transport, faster communication, faster manufacturing processes etc. All these lead to an increase in energy required for all these modern systems. These energy come from different sources and one of these sources is the biomass or biofuel energy production (generation) source. 1.2. DEFINITION OF BIOMASS Biomass or Biofuel is a fuel that is developed from organic materials, renewable and sustainable source of energy used to generate electricity or other forms of energy. It is the organic material that is used for the production of energy known as biomass . 1.3. DESCRIPTION  OF BIOMASS The biomass plant is a renewable source of energy because wastes residues will always exist be it in terms of scrap wood, forest resources, manure etc...Developing ...
